www.settetavoli.itOnly seven tables are set inside an intimate and welcoming restaurant successfully run for years by Giandomenico Bonura, a Calabrian restaurateur with a deep and genuine passion for wine. Located directly opposite Teatro Duse, it offers an ideal pairing of culture and romance. In the historic center, it is rare to find such a romantic, private atmosphere with excellent acoustics, enhanced by softly played jazz and the discreet, gracious presence of Jacqueline, the dining room manager.
The bohemian charm of the dining room, furnished with antique pieces, reinforces the warmth felt upon entering. A notable strength is the thoughtful and well-curated wine cellar, featuring producers from across Italy and a refreshingly non-commercial selection from France as well. The menu alternates traditional dishes with creative proposals that have remained consistent across seasons. Results are uneven: the revisited Bolognese cutlet lacks technical balance, while the tortellini in Parmigiano cream stand out for quality, harmony, and flavor. Particularly impressive is the sous-vide duck breast with chocolate-infused jus, alongside well-executed vegetarian dishes. Desserts are inviting and well made, complemented by an original selection of spirits and bitters, encouraging guests to linger pleasantly at one of the seven themed tables.
