On this eighty-hectare estate, five are devoted to centuries-old chestnut trees. It is a haven of unspoiled nature, a direct reflection of the dedication that Roberto and Carlotta have poured into reviving a farmhouse nestled at the foot of the Bolognese hills.

Their shared vision has brought to life a bright and enchanting retreat, shaped by Carlotta’s attentive and thoughtful eye—honed through her experience in design—and by Roberto’s extensive background managing demanding kitchens and catering services. This is a place where families gather, children play freely outdoors, and inclusive activities take place through the Educational Farm’s programs, along with cultural events for kids, all in close connection with this natural oasis.

Month by month, the menu continues to evolve, always rooted in relationships with local, short-supply-chain producers, and increasingly attuned to cooking techniques that best enhance the expression and freshness of the land. Carlotta has inherited the art of handmade pasta from her grandmothers, who run one of the best fresh pasta shops in Bologna, just across from the Mercato delle Erbe. Her tortellini in a light Parmesan cream—small, delicate, and blended into a blissfully unthickened sauce—are among the finest tasted in recent times.

It’s worth sharing every appetizer: cheeses with their compotes, flans, seasonal vegetables, and artisanal cured meats offer a full immersion into the spirit of the place, which the staff will proudly recount from its origins. Some room remains for improvement in the harmony between sauces and pasta dishes, but among the mains, the rabbit “in porchetta” with herbs and crispy potato rostis is reason enough for the trip—alongside other flavorful meats like the deeply savory ribs.

The wine cellar, while offering a few classic labels, also ventures with curiosity and connection toward small producers, including Azienda Caccianemici, known for cultivating native grape varieties just a scenic walk away, through the surrounding woods.
