Nestled among vineyards and fruit trees in the hills between Bologna and Modena, Ca’ Lunati is a warm and welcoming agriturismo founded in the mid-1980s by Renzo Lunati and Marisa Crati. Today, it’s lovingly run by their daughter Cecilia and granddaughter Margherita, who manage everything from the farm and restaurant to administration and sourcing.

The farm supplies the restaurant with seasonal fruits, vegetables, and grapes used to prepare sides, preserves, syrups, wines, and liqueurs. Additional ingredients are carefully sourced from nearby producers who share the same values of quality and ethics. Each supplier is listed with a short description at the end of the menu — a thoughtful read while sipping a glass of wine.

The menu blends classic Emilian dishes like tortellini, tortelloni, and tagliatelle with seasonal offerings. Their signature fried gnocco — made without lard to suit all diets — is always served with local cured meats and cheeses.

For those torn by too many delicious options, a tasting menu is available (for two or more people) at €40, including two starters, two pastas, a main course, a tasting of house-made desserts, plus water, cover, and coffee.

Reservations are recommended, and the journey through the scenic hills is part of the experience.
