www.nagathai.itAlessandro Brunelli holds his heart and memories divided between his beloved Bologna and Bangkok.
Until the age of two, he was immersed in Thai culture, collecting memories and affections shaped by the warmth, lightness, aromas, and flavors of Southeast Asia. This life experience, intertwined with a deep-rooted, almost anthropological attachment to his homeland, led him—during the pandemic—to open a small venue beside the local market on Via Toscana. The space recalls typical Thai street bars, bringing an authentic menu to Bologna that faithfully reflects the ethnic richness of Thai gastronomy.
The kitchen, from the very beginning, has been entrusted to the expert hands of Chef Jeab, who brings to life traditional family recipes long appreciated—and nostalgically remembered—by Italians returning from trips to Thailand. The dishes are crafted with ingredients carefully sourced from specialized suppliers or directly selected from the artisanal market stalls next door, blending freshness with quality.
Whether enjoying one of the 16 seats—which are fully booked for both lunch and dinner—or opting for the thoughtfully structured and well-organized delivery service, the philosophy of sa-nuk (the Thai concept of joy, fun, and harmony) still strikes the customer, creating a moment of serenity and shared experience.
The distinctive character of the cuisine lies in its harmonious balance of sour, sweet, salty, and bitter notes—a combination that can become quite addictive. You’ll find it in the soups, salads, pappardelle, and stir-fried rice noodles, all prepared with a kind of shamanic variety of spices, condiments, and sauces, the result of a research process that is anything but ordinary or standardized. Thanks to this, the restaurant proudly stands among the best ethnic dining experiences in Bologna and its province.
